Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010

What are some of the things you have heard about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA)? Do you agree or disagree with this information and why?

  1. I personally agree with Obama Care. I think that it actually helps the economy because when a person doesn't have insurance they go to the emergency room and get a bill. (usually never gets paid). That leaves more Americans in debt. Prevention is better than the cure!!!

  2. I have heard that this act is not really affordable. It gives many options but its not as cheap that many people thought it was going to be. I agree with what I have heard because I have had experience with this act. As for myself being young but being in the gap where technically I can not be on the insurance for children and I'm not over 26 it really is not that affordable.

    1. wow, I have heard many people say that but I was listening to the radio the other day and an insurance agent from Humana was expressing that if you get a person from healthcare.gov on the phone or a representative from any of the providers available they can walk you through the process and find a plan affordable for you. hope this helps :)

    2. I agree that it is not affordable. I have tried the different options trying to get health insurance for me and my family. But there was nothing that we could really afford. I really feel that we should not be fined for this. My husband and I work really hard and need every penny that we receive. And to be fined for not being able to afford health insurance is ridiculous!

  3. MANY PEOPLE ARE TOUGH CRITICS OF THE PPACA LAW A.K.A. OBAMACARE, I THINK IT COMES FROM A LACK OF KNOWLEDGE. IN MY LIMITED REVIEW OF THE OBAMACARE ACT I HAVE FOUND WITH PROPER UNDERSTANDING ON HOW TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION WITH UNDERSTANDING OF WHAT FINANCIAL BRACKET YOU FALL IN THIS ACT IS BENEFICIAL. FOR LOW INCOME FAMILIES YOU CAN NOW GET FULL HEALTHCARE COVERAGE REGARDLESS OF CONDITION FOR LITTLE TO NOTHING OR FREE OR RECEIVE A TAX REFUND BASED OFF OF HOW MUCH YOU SPEND ON HEALTHCARE IF YOU ARE ABOVE THE POVERTY LINE. I FIND BECAUSE OF SOME OF THESE CRITERIAS IT WILL BE ESSENTIAL IN HELPING UPGRADE PEOPLES QUALITY OF LIFE WHO WERE UNABLE TO GET THIS TYPE OF CARE BEFORE.

    1. I agree with you Nadiayah that most people aren't properly informed about the program and that's why they don't think that it beneficial to them I would also like to add that it also beneficial to those who don't fall under or below the poverty level. Many entrepreneurs benefit from this as well. Most of them have to pay for heath coverage without any assistance and as we all know getting insurance without assistance can be very expensive. So having the Obama Care helps them as well.

  4. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 also known as Obama care is made so that every citizen has to have health insurance by March 31, 2014 or you will have penalties. My opinion is that I truly do not agree with this Act because I feel like if America is a free country why should we have to have insurance through Obama care and get penalized if you don't. I understand it has its pros but it also has its cons which people fail to research and understand. We should be able to choose what insurance we want for our self not what the government chooses. This government is a demanding, unorganized, unethical, greedy place. They should not charge you a fee of $95 per adult and $47.50 per child for not signing up. They also take out 1% (AGI) on your taxes. that's unfair and unfit, it shows how greedy of government is for control and money you work hard for.

    1. I absolutely agree with you on this, as much as we do for this country whether its serving in the military, working jobs etc. the least they can do is give us free of charge healthcare. To help prolong our lives.

    2. I agree all the way. The Obama Care is not for everyone. The cons over way the pros, and the fact that you will get penalized for not having the insurance is just not far. This is suppose to be a free country but of course the government has to control us some type of way

    3. I agree as well because we should be able to choose our own health care insurance. Not everyone has an income where they can afford to pay all of their bills and attend to their families needs and still have that type of money left offer to FORCEFULLY pay insurance selected by the government. Its not fair. I'm just one person alone with no kids and I can't afford it. I'm SOL .

    5. I totally agree with you. We should not be penalized for not having health insurance. If my husband and I had to choose whether to pay the electric bill or the health insurance bill, we will always choose to have electric. And I feel like we should not be penalized for that.

    6. I agree the government is money hunger and the fact whether health care is a right or privilege is one debate that has been very extensive.

  5. I have heard good things about the act. The intent of why the act is being implemented is for a good cause. A lot of people probably become discouraged because they may feel they don't fit the criteria to receive the care. Many should do there own research on it to see what exact benefits they will receive, whether it be for them or a family member. Anything that will help with the longevity of life I am for.

    1. There are many benefits to the act. However I feel that as far as it being affordable, a teenager that has to pay for their insurance without parents, is very costly.

  6. I agree with the Obama Care Program , but I also disagree because I don't think we should be fined for not having insurance. I also agree because you need Health Insurance incase anything happens to you and your family. It is good to have it incase your in a accident or anything major you will be covered. I like how it is set up and designed too be affordable based on your income.

    1. i agree that we should not be fined for insurance. There are just a lot of people out there that just dont want to have insurance or just feel that they cant afford it.But if you receive insurance you are not only taking care of your self and your family but the insurance will be of good quality.

    2. I also agree that people shouldn't be fined for being uninsured, because no one knows any persons situation.

    3. I disagree you should be fined if you don't have it because in the end it's hurting yourself and tax payers. When you get that emergency room bill because you didn't have insurance and you don't pay, the hospital has to eat that lose. So in order to pay that bill off they have to increase fees and since a lot of hospitals are non profit they have to ask federal govt for more assistance which means that's more taxes out of our pockets!! It doesn't seem like a lot when you think of just you but think about if everyone does it!

  7. I agree with the Obamas Care program, it helps to get young as well as old and others, that was not able to afford having insurance otherwise affordable plans for everyone, so with these affordable plans available this will help those to be able to get preventive checkups done on a regular basis and that to me is a plus for all.

  8. I disagree with the Obama Care Program. However i do believe everyone should have insurance. If push come to shove and you have to be hospitalize, what would you do with out insurance? Who will help you pay for it. I just feel the system is trying to corner you and making you pay for something they want you to have. Yes the Obama Care has pros, but the con is everyone cannot afford the same insurance. Its another way for the government to control you

  9. I agree with the Affordable Care Act. I think that it allows most Americans affordable care. Many of us have been uninsured for years and weren't able to afford treatment when we needed it. With the Affordable Care Act we are now able to afford health care because of the subsidies that are offered for example, Medicaid , or getting a qualified health plan with a tax credit. Which means that you are given a certain amount of money each month to go towards yours monthly payments. And you are now able to get medical care even if you have a pre existing condition. With the subsidies most people should be able to afford coverage.

  10. I agree with the paient protection and affordable care act somewhat because it increases coverage and affordability for americans and the quality of the insurance would be better. Its good that it will offer the same rates regardless of pre-existing conditions or sex. But i also feel that if you want insurance you want it.If you dont want it dont get it. As for someone with a family it would be very beneficial.Americans should not be penalized if they dont have insurance. Overall i think that it is affordable compared to all of the other insurance companies because you will receive good quality insurance through the Affordable Care Act.

  11. I as a Vet fought for this country so this program can happen. I believe every person needs and should have medical care. Why do you have to lose your home or worst your life cause u cant afford to pay? We as a country rather save other countries then to save our on sick and homeless.

  12. I have mixed feelings about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. I do agree that all people should have health insurance.I disagree with it being affordable. For myself and several people I know, this insurance wasn’t exactly affordable. I do not believe that people should be fined for not having health insurance. Obviously, if a person doesn't have health insurance, one of the reasons this could be is that they cannot afford it. I feel like the fine is only adding more stress and frustrations to families. 13. I feel as though the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act is some what a good and bad thing. It's good because its a good thing that people will be able to be insured but its also a bad thing because of the cost that it will have on the government. That is a lot of money coming out of the U.S. budget to allow people to be insured.

  14. I agree with the Affordable Care Act, it allows whom ever to afford what they to be able to help provide proper healthcare for there families.

I think health insurance should be affordable

  16. I think that the affordable health care act is good for working families. It's good to be able to go to the doctor and not have to worry about how you will pay of if you will get quality care. However, I am currently unemployed and my monthly payment is extremely high so I have to figure out a way to lower my payments until I find a job. Overall I think It is a step in the right direction.
